Decrease TCO with Simple Operation, Reduced Wiring, Batch Settings, and Batch Management.

Control Servos for up to 16 Axes in a Motion Network with One Position Control Unit that Supports MECHATROLINK-II. Support OMNUC G Series, W Series and SMARTSTEP Junior.

  • Even Smaller: Positioning of up to 16 axes can be controlled with a body the size of one CS/CJ-series Unit.
The compact body provides a perfect fit to meet the need for downsizing of equipment for multi-axis control.

  • Single-cable Connection with Flexible Wiring Placement: With MECHATROLINK-II, connecting to the Servo Drive is easy. Just use a single cable (2-core shielded twisted-pair cable). Reduced wiring, with a total cable length of 50 m (or 30 m for 16 axes), allows more freedom in constructing systems.

  • Less Time Spent on Startup and Maintenance: Servo parameters can be set from the PLC. This means that settings and adjustments can be performed from one location
rather than having to connect to each Servo Drive separately.

  • Simple Expansion: An easily expandable system can be constructed that is just as efficient now with a few axes or later with up to 16 axes.

  • Linked Operation of Multiple Axes with MA Functionality: The addition of an Interpolation Compensation Axis Stop Mode Setting and Interaxial Allowance Deviation Setting to linear interpolation compensation enables easier setting of linked operation between axes.

Batch settings and management, reduced wiring

  • Models with 2 or 4 axes for absolute encoders and easy programming using familiar ladder diagrams.

CJ1W-NCF71-MA Position Control Unit

  • Linear interpolation is enhanced for use in conveyor control with 2-axis bilateral movement for large panels, such as LCD and plasma.

  • Interaxial Deviation Monitor for Linear Interpolation
When linear interpolation is used, it is possible to monitor the current feedback position of up to two selected axes and to decelerate the axes to a stop if the deviation between the axes exceeds the setting.

  • Interaxial Stop Mode Setting for Linear Interpolation
Previously, if a Servo error occurred on one axis, the other axis would decelerate to a stop, but now it is possible for the other axis to use the same stopping mode as the axis with the error by selecting emergency stop or Servo unlock.

Note: The functionality described above is only for the CJ1 Series CJ1W-NCF71-MA.

Features

System configuration with Mechatrolink-II

Feature 1: More Compact

Even Smaller

  • Previously, W-series Units had to be connected to a MECHATROLINK-II Module. Now, OMNUC W-series AC Servo Drivers with built-in MECHATROLINK-II communications are available. This reduces the volume to 2/3 or more of previous models.

Servo driver volume reduced to 56% and many more axes for the same size using CJ1W-NCF71 Positioning Unit.

Feature 2: Less Wiring

Single-cable connection offers wiring flexibility

  • Servo Drive connection was greatly simplified: just one shielded twisted-pair cable is needed with a MECHATROLINK-II network. The overall cable length is 50 m (30 m for 16 axes only) and there is less wiring and more flexibility in device arrangement.

Simple wiring with one cable.

Feature 3: Centralized Data Control

Less Time Spent on Startup and Maintenance

  • Servo Drive parameters can be set from the PLC. This means that settings and adjustments can be performed from one location rather than having to connect a Programming Device to each Servo Drive individually. Servo Drive alarm status and other information, such as speed and torque, can also be monitored from the PLC.

Easy accessible where all parameters can be set from one location.

Feature 4: Multi-axis Control

Simple Expansion

  • An easily expandable system can be constructed that is just as efficient now with a few axes or later with up to 16 axes.

Flexible with expandable system up to 16 axes max.

Applications

Assembly equipment: Absolute and relative positioning of multiple axes can be performed by manipulating bits directly from the PLC.

Feeder application: Just as with position control, speed and torque can also be controlled by operating bits directly from the PLC.

Processing Equipment application: Position, speed and torque can be controlled using a torque limit.

Conveyor application: Simplifies standby and recovery processing when faults such as a power interruptions occur.
