Performing with Speed and Precision in the Increasingly Demanding Field of Rotation Control

 

Until now, mechanical cam switches have been commonly used in systems that control rotation angles automatically. In such systems, making adjustment to angle and switch setting can be troublesome.

 

The digital 3F88L-160/162 Cam Positioner allows these time-consuming settings to be executed quickly and easily, and also enables maintenance and management tasks to be performed more efficiently at reduced cost.

 

Furthermore, advances in miniaturization mean that the 3F88L-160/162 Cam Positioner takes up less space than its mechanical counterpart, and contributes to reducing the overall size of systems.

 

 

Cam Positioner Nomenclature

 

Greater speed and precision increase machine productivity

 

High-speed detection is made possible by resolver speeds of 1,600 r/min at a resolution of 1°, or 800 r/min at a resolution of 0.5°. For each cam output, up to 180 steps can be set for 360 divisions/rotation, and up to 360 steps can be set for 720 division/rotation. Up to 8 program banks can be registered as well.

 

 

Smaller size means more economical use of space

 

With dimensions of 100 × 110 × 82.5 mm (H×W×D), the 3F88L-160/162 Cam Positioner occupies half the volume of earlier models*, and responds to the increased demand for smaller control panels and space-savings designs.

The appropriate cam output corresponding to the rotation speed can be achieved through simple settings and operations

 

Program settings can be entered easily using the operation keys on the front panel, and data from one Cam Positioner can be copied to another using the copy function.

 

 

International standards such as UL/CSA acquired in response to global requirements

 

Conformance to UL/CSA and EC Directives (Low-voltage Directive and EMC Directive) allow the Unit to be used worldwide.

A variety of features that enables effective on-site use

 
In addition to the teaching, origin shift, and origin compensation functions featured in earlier models, the 3F88L-160/162 Cam Positioner is equipped with a host of new features. These include advance angle compensation, useful for matching the timing of press machines and food packaging machines; communications capability, a copy function for copy settings between Cam Positioners; a one-direction function; backlash compensation; and cam input hold.

 

 

Fitted with a communications port for connection to a personal computer

 

The 3F88L-160/162 Cam Positioner is fitted with a communications port that conforms to the CompoWay/F protocol*. This allows program to be read and written, and the present angle and speed to be monitored from a personal computer.
